HOUSING DEVELOPMENT 'BLOEMHOF'
Alongside a lush canal, but still in the innercity of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, this project of 85 groundbound houses was conceived, as a new fill-in in the existing streetpattern.
A subtle change from more pittoresque, countryside housing to more urban, citylike towards the canal was made to get in touch with both existing worlds.
The smaller 2-storey houses are almost a caricature of the standard house. Its brightblue roofs are in contrast with the merely brownreddish of the surrounding. Yet the shape, with the gable roofs, are a very familiar sight.
The building alongside the canal is much more closed, and underneath there is the carparking for 85 cars. On its roof the private terraces.
Completed in 2008.
